Indian Commercial Vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland has unveiled an all-women production line at their Hosur plant. This team will handle the complete process of the new P15 engine module.
The effort to introduce an all-women manufacturing line promotes women empowerment and attracts them to join the industry. The company has always focused on a diverse workforce. Moreover, the brand has invested in training and upskilling them to learn core manufacturing skills. This women workforce will be responsible for this new engine line's entire end-to-end production process.
Mr Shenu Agarwal, the Managing Director and CEO of Ashok Leyland, said, "At Ashok Leyland, diversity and inclusion has always been a priority, and we have been providing equal opportunities regardless of gender and ethnicity. Giving women these opportunities enhance not only their lives but also the lives of their families and the community."
"This initiative is in line with our brand philosophy of 'Koi Manzil Door Nahin' as we aim to upskill and generate employment for these women. we recognise the importance of establishing a better gender balance and initiatives like this (to) create a more inclusive ecosystem," he added.
The new P15 engine model (Assembly and Testing ) is established in the H1 unit to address the growing demand for new LCV products. This new line is built to provide a capacity of 62,000 units per annum while working in 2 shifts.
