BharatBenz Launches New HX and Torqshift Truck Series for India's Fast-Growing Construction and Mining Market
India's construction and mining industry is growing rapidly, and BharatBenz is stepping up to meet this demand. The company has launched two new truck series—HX and Torqshift—specially built for construction and mining work. These trucks are designed to help contractors handle more work with better speed, comfort, and safety.
Strong Focus on a Growing Market
India’s construction equipment sector is expanding quickly. According to reports, the sector could grow from $16 billion to $45 billion by 2030. This means more trucks and machines will be needed for construction and mining jobs across the country.
Perhaps more importantly, India is set to become the world’s third-largest construction market by 2025, just behind China and the US. With such growth ahead, the demand for reliable and strong trucks is higher than ever. BharatBenz aims to meet this demand with its new truck range.
Real-World Testing Before Launch
Before starting full-scale production, BharatBenz tested over 150 trucks in real construction and mining sites across India. These tests helped the company check how the trucks perform in tough conditions. The trials showed that the trucks offer better uptime, more efficiency, and greater profits for fleet owners.
According to Satyakam Arya, the MD and CEO of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, the company has seen big changes in the market. He explained that many contractors now prefer owning trucks rather than renting them. This shift is mainly to improve control over operations and get better long-term returns. Many old fleets are now reaching the end of their life, so companies are looking for newer, more reliable trucks.
New Series with Strong Features
The new BharatBenz lineup includes two series—the HX Series and the Torqshift Series—both designed for heavy-duty use.
HX Series: Strong and Durable for Construction
The HX series includes 2828C HX and 3532C HX models. These trucks come with two engine options:
- 280 HP with 1100 Nm torque
- 320 HP with 1250 Nm torque
These trucks also offer several advanced features such as:
- Hill Hold Assist for smoother starts on slopes
- Unitised front axle bearings for easier maintenance
- Wind deflectors for better aerodynamics
- Driver state monitoring systems for safety
In addition, these trucks can climb steep slopes. The 2828C HX can manage a 60% grade, and the 3532C HX handles up to 54%—even with full loads.
Torqshift Series: Designed for Mining Jobs
The Torqshift series includes 2832CM and 3532CM models. These trucks come with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), which makes driving easier and saves fuel.
This series is specially built for mining and offers:
- Faster turnaround times
- Better fuel efficiency
- Improved driver comfort
Ready-Mix Concrete Variant
For ready-mix concrete jobs, BharatBenz also launched the 2828C RMC truck. This truck comes with a 9 cubic meter drum capacity and is powered by a 280 HP OM 926 BSVI OBD-II engine with 1100 Nm of torque.
According to Pradeep Kumar Thimmaiyan, “the CTO of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, the new trucks are designed after taking direct feedback from customers. They asked for higher payload capacity, faster turnaround, and lower maintenance. Every update in the new trucks solves a real challenge faced by users. Safety has also been given top priority, with cabins meeting EU ECE R29-03 crash test standards.”
Infrastructure Growth Supports Demand
India’s infrastructure sector is also going through a big transformation. The government plans to build a 200,000 km highway network by 2025, backed by $350 billion in investment. This huge push requires many strong trucks and machines.
In addition, India’s construction equipment market is expected to grow at 8.9% CAGR from 2022 to 2028, rising from $5.2 billion to $8.7 billion. The mining sector is also growing, with underground mining equipment expected to increase from $7.4 billion in 2023 to $13.5 billion by 2032, showing a 6.68% CAGR.
This growth means companies will need trucks that can handle large workloads with less downtime. BharatBenz aims to provide that through its advanced range of trucks.
Focus on Operator Needs and Safety
Today, fleet operators want trucks that deliver more uptime, quick service, and safety. According to Rajiv Chaturvedi, President and CBO of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, the HX series is designed to do just that. The trucks reduce project delays and boost operational output.
He also mentioned that many customers now ask for:
- GPS tracking systems
- Hill-start assist
- Reverse cameras
- Driver monitoring systems
These features are now important because they improve driver safety and help in running fleets more efficiently.
Strong Dealer Network and Support
The new truck series will be available across BharatBenz’s 385 dealership points in India. The company also offers 15,000-hour annual maintenance contracts to ensure the trucks stay on the road longer.
In addition, BharatBenz runs an advanced uptime center. This center uses smart data tools and real-time vehicle monitoring to offer predictive maintenance. As a result, fleet owners can reduce unexpected breakdowns and plan service ahead of time.
Technical Highlights That Stand Out
The HX range offers several technical features that improve performance and reduce costs:
- Unitized bearing system at the front axle for less maintenance
- Differential locks (inter-axle and inter-wheel) for better grip on rough roads
- Bolster bogie suspension with shock absorbers for better load handling and comfort
- Transmission options include G131 and G131HD with 9 forward and 1 reverse gear
Moreover, the trucks have improved aerodynamics with wind deflectors that help save fuel. They also offer better approach angles and higher ground clearance, which is ideal for off-road and mining operations.
BharatBenz Powers the Future of Construction and Mining
With the launch of the HX and Torqshift series, BharatBenz has shown its commitment to India’s fast-growing infrastructure and mining sectors. These trucks are built to handle tough jobs, offer more comfort to drivers, and provide better returns to fleet operators.
As India moves ahead with ambitious infrastructure plans, BharatBenz is ready to support this growth with world-class trucks designed for high performance, durability, and safety.
