The Blue Energy & JK Lakshmi Partnership brings the First LNG Trucks to Roads

JK Lakshmi deploys the first batch of 10 trucks at the Sirohi Cement plant in Rajasthan. It comes with a 990-litre fuel tank and delivers a range of 1400 KM.

Blue Energy, a Pune-based company that launched the LNG truck a few months ago, is again in the news after cracking a deal with JK Lakshmi Cements. The brand has supplied the first batch of LNG trucks to one of the leading manufacturers in our country for long-haul transportation. In addition, with this deal, JK Lakshmi became the first company to deploy LNG trucks in their operations. In the first phase, 10 trucks flagged off from the Sirohi cement plant to the clinker grinding unit at Surat. According to the company, they will increase the number of trucks in the future.

Official Statements

The CEO of Blue Energy, Mr Anirudh Bhuwalka, said in the statement, ‘’Sustainability should not be a choice anymore, but a compulsory way of life. The infra industry is very closely connected to trucks, and such adoptions institute trust and instil confidence that will eventually pave the way towards a carbon-neutral environment. Our trucks have been designed and conceptualised, keeping in mind the Indian conditions and climate requirements. It’s the best immediate solution to pollution caused by the heavy duty-vehicle sector.“
The President & Director of JK Lakshmi, Mr Arun Shukla, said, “Our country is aiming to reduce the carbon intensity of the nation’s economy by less than 45% by the end of the decade and achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. We have taken multiple steps to reduce both direct and indirect carbon emissions. Deploying LNG trucks of Blue Energy Motors is our first step towards sustainable transportation as LNG is an excellent green alternative for fossil fuel.”

The partnership of Blue Energy With Iveco

Blue Energy introduced itself with the first LNG-fuelled truck BE5528 tractor, the first model. It is designed and manufactured to deliver better Total Operating Cost (TCO) with next-generation telematics to provide an improved interface. Earlier this year, FPT industrial, a unit of Italian truck company Iveco, signed a deal to deliver LNG-powered engines. As a result, the first LNG-fuelled truck was rolled out from the manufacturing unit in Pune. The Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Mr Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated the whole facility.

Truck Specifications

The truck has a 6.7-litre engine which churns out a power of 280 HP with a torque of 1000 NM. The output can ease all the long haulage transportation. In addition, the engine has lower noise and high mileage, which is currently the best in this segment. It also has the industry’s first big 990-litre fuel tank, which provides a range of 1400 KM. Therefore, this truck will be an important part of the future network system by providing ease in the long haulage. Also, the company plans to produce 10,000 trucks per annum.
