Delhi CM Launches Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025
In a big move to reduce pollution in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a strict new rule. From November 1, 2025, only BS6, CNG, or electric commercial vehicles will be allowed to enter Delhi. This decision is part of the Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025, which was launched on Tuesday.
A Step Towards a Cleaner and Greener Delhi
While addressing the press, CM Gupta said, “From November 1, 2025, any commercial vehicle entering Delhi must be a BS6, CNG, or electric vehicle. This is an important step to control pollution in our city.” She also added that the dream of the Delhi government is to build a Clean Delhi, Green Delhi, and Healthy Delhi.
CM Gupta also highlighted the ongoing problems of air pollution that have affected Delhi for many years. According to her, this new plan by the Delhi Environment Department is well-prepared and focused on strong action against pollution.
Artificial Rain Coming Soon to Delhi
Interestingly, the CM also shared some new and innovative plans. She announced that Delhi will soon see its first artificial rain. This will happen through cloud seeding technology, which can help clear dust and pollution from the air. The government has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Kanpur to start this as a pilot project.
She explained, “To reduce and remove pollution, we will work with top science organisations. They will use their latest technologies to support our fight against pollution.”
Mist Sprayers and Anti-Smog Guns for Pollution Hotspots
In addition to artificial rain, the Delhi government is planning to install mist sprayers in areas that often face high levels of dust and pollution. These sprayers will help settle dust particles and improve air quality.
Furthermore, Gupta said that anti-smog guns will be mandatory on all high-rise buildings in Delhi. This includes malls, hotels, and commercial buildings that are more than 3,000 square metres. She believes this will play a big role in reducing dust-related pollution.
Cameras to Detect Polluting Vehicles
Another important step mentioned by the Chief Minister was the plan to install Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras at all entry points of Delhi. These cameras will help track and stop end-of-life vehicles, which are known to cause a lot of pollution.
As soon as one of these vehicles enters Delhi, the cameras will detect it, and officials will take action. The same cameras will also be installed at petrol pumps to make sure that no polluting vehicles go unnoticed.
Massive Tree Plantation Drive from June 5
To increase greenery in the city, the Delhi government is starting a new campaign called “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”. This campaign will begin on June 5, which is World Environment Day. The target is to plant 70 lakh saplings across Delhi in 2025.
The CM said, “We want Delhi to have cleaner air. With this campaign, we hope people will breathe fresher air and enjoy a better life. We want people to feel happy to live in Delhi rather than moving away because of pollution.”
A Collective Effort to Fight Air Pollution
Overall, CM Rekha Gupta’s announcements show a strong and clear plan to tackle Delhi’s pollution problem. From using cleaner vehicles to bringing artificial rain and planting millions of trees, the city is preparing for a big change.
However, success will also depend on how well people follow the rules and support the government’s efforts. As Delhi continues to grow, such steps are necessary to protect the health and well-being of its people.
With these combined efforts, perhaps Delhi will soon move towards a future that is greener, healthier, and cleaner for everyone.
