Combined Commercial Vehicle and Three-Wheeler Sales Grow by 10.88% in April 2025
The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) has released the retail sales data for April 2025, showcasing a positive overall performance in the commercial vehicle (CV) and three-wheeler segments. According to the report, combined retail sales stood at 1,90,324 units, reflecting a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 10.88% compared to 1,71,643 units in April 2024.
Notably, three-wheeler retail sales surged by 24.51%, reaching 99,766 units as against 80,127 units in April last year. However, the commercial vehicle segment experienced a marginal decline of 1.05%, recording 90,558 units, slightly down from 91,516 units sold in April 2024.

FADA Retail Sales Report by Segment: Three-Wheelers
E-RICKSHAW (P)
The e-rickshaw (passenger) category posted a 24.26% growth, with 39,528 units sold in April 2025, up from 31,811 units during the same month last year.
E-RICKSHAW WITH CART (G)
This segment witnessed a massive 77.06% YoY growth, registering 7,463 units in April 2025 compared to 4,215 units in April 2024.
THREE-WHEELER (GOODS)
The three-wheeler goods segment recorded a 13.57% increase, reaching 10,312 units, up from 9,080 units sold in April 2024.
THREE-WHEELER (PASSENGER)
With a strong market demand, passenger three-wheelers grew by 21.06%, with 42,321 units sold in April 2025 as compared to 34,959 units last year.
THREE-WHEELER (PERSONAL)
This niche segment witnessed a significant rise of 129.03%, albeit on a small base, with 142 units sold in April 2025 against 62 units in April 2024.
FADA Retail Sales Report by Segment: Commercial Vehicles (CV)
The commercial vehicle segment showed a mixed performance in April 2025, with LCV and HCV categories recording negative growth, while MCV continued its upward trend.
LCV (Light Commercial Vehicles)
The LCV segment registered a slight YoY decline of 1.09%, with 46,751 units sold in April 2025, down from 47,267 units in April 2024.
MCV (Medium Commercial Vehicles)
The MCV segment continued its positive momentum with a 12.72% increase, selling 7,638 units compared to 6,776 units in April 2024.
HCV (Heavy Commercial Vehicles)
Sales of heavy commercial vehicles saw a decline of 2.86%, dropping to 31,657 units in April 2025 from 32,590 units during the same month last year.
Others (Including Construction Equipment, Special Vehicles, etc.)
This category witnessed a decline of 7.60%, with sales falling to 4,512 units in April 2025 from 4,883 units in April 2024.
Despite the slight decline in the CV category, the significant growth in the three-wheeler market contributed to the overall positive retail performance in April 2025. With rising demand in passenger and goods movement segments, especially in electric three-wheelers, the industry is showing signs of resilience and recovery.
