Commercial Vehicle and Three-Wheeler Sales Grew by 2.35% in FY 2025
The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) has released the retail sales data for the complete financial year (FY) 2025, covering commercial vehicles (CVs) and three-wheelers. As per the data, combined CV and 3W retail sales reached 22,29,604 units, registering a 2.35% year-on-year (YoY) growth over FY 2024, when total sales were 21,78,310 units.
The three-wheeler (3W) segment demonstrated a 4.54% increase, with sales rising to 12,20,981 units in FY 2025 from 11,67,986 units the previous year. On the other hand, commercial vehicles (CV) slightly declined by 0.17%, with total retail sales slipping from 10,10,324 units in FY 2024 to 10,08,623 units in FY 2025.

FADA Retail Sales Report by Segment: Three-Wheelers
E-RICKSHAW (P)
The e-rickshaw (passenger) segment declined by 3.27%, dropping from 4,90,662 units in FY 2024 to 4,74,635 units in FY 2025.
E-RICKSHAW WITH CART (G)
This goods-focused electric three-wheeler category showed strong growth of 59.47%, jumping from 40,785 units in FY 2024 to 65,038 units in FY 2025.
THREE-WHEELER (GOODS)
The goods three-wheeler segment remained almost flat with a 0.27% rise, recording 1,22,624 units in FY 2025 against 1,22,298 units in FY 2024.
THREE-WHEELER (PASSENGER)
The passenger three-wheeler category grew by 8.64%, rising from 5,13,328 units in FY 2024 to 5,57,693 units in FY 2025.
THREE-WHEELER (PERSONAL)
This niche segment registered a modest 8.54% increase, with 991 units sold in FY 2025 compared to 913 units in the previous year.
FADA Retail Sales Report by Segment: Commercial Vehicles (CV)
The commercial vehicle segment, including Light, Medium, Heavy, and other categories, witnessed a mixed trend in FY 2025:
LCV (Light Commercial Vehicles)
The LCV segment saw a marginal growth of 0.21%, with sales increasing from 5,62,026 units in FY 2024 to 5,63,189 units in FY 2025.
MCV (Medium Commercial Vehicles)
MCVs recorded a healthy 6.05% growth, reaching 77,568 units in FY 2025 from 73,142 units in FY 2024.
HCV (Heavy Commercial Vehicles)
The HCV segment registered a 4.07% decline, with volumes falling from 3,26,150 units in FY 2024 to 3,12,892 units in FY 2025.
Others (Including Construction Equipment, Special Vehicles, etc.)
The ‘Others’ category showed a notable rise of 12.18%, clocking 54,974 units in FY 2025 compared to 49,006 units the previous year.
