The Ministry of Electronics and IT has approved Maharashtra's first Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) of Rs. 493 Crore Near Pune for boosting e-mobility

As a part of an initiative to make India a hub of electronic manufacturing, the Ministry of Electronic and IT (MeiTY) has approved the greenfield Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Ranjangaon Phase-III near Pune in Maharashtra. It will be the first EMC in the state of Maharashtra that will cover an area of 297.11 acres. Its project cost is Rs. 492.85 crores. It will boost the electronics manufacturing industry in the state. It will be built under the National Policy on Electronics 2019 to make India a global hub for ESDM (Electronics System Design and Manufacturing).

This EMC is expected to catalyse about Rs. 2000 crore investments and create 5000 job opportunities. As per the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, the EMC is likely to function within 32 months. It will focus on different electronics industrial units, solar photovoltaic manufacturing, e-mobility equipment, etc. Definitely, this EMC will push forward the country's efforts to generate an enabling environment for the electronics industry so that India can compete globally. The electronic manufacturing Cluster encourages electronic and seamless mobility. It can be a milestone for the state and the centre to strengthen ESDM value chains for the country's economic development. India has set the target of achieving a turnover of USD 400 billion (around 26,00,000 crore) through the ESDM sector by 2025.

The Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology, Mr Rajeev Chandrasekhar, stated, "India already has several EMCs in Noida, Tirupati, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu - wherein both MNCc and domestic startups have established their manufacturing units. The Indian government is the enabling partner in these EMCs and it is working in tandem with the state governments to make these clusters a catalyst for the electronics manufacturing in the state."

He further added that the Semicon India Future Design roadshow would be held at Pune to support and boost Semiconductor Design Startups in Maharashtra. In addition, he plans to encourage the Rs. 1000 crore Semicon India Future Design Programme. For this purpose, Pune's C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) will act as the nodal office.
