Mahindra Reshuffles Leadership – R Velusamy to Lead Auto, Sikka Takes Over Logistics

Mahindra Group Promotes Senior Leaders to Lead Logistics, Auto, and Farm Businesses

The Mahindra Group has announced major leadership changes by promoting experienced leaders from within the organisation. This decision highlights the company’s belief in internal talent and long-term planning. The group has chosen three senior leaders to head important business divisions—Logistics, Automotive, and Farm Equipment. These changes are aimed at driving future growth and creating more value for customers and stakeholders.

R Velusamy to Lead Integrated Auto Division

  1. Velusamy, currently President of Automotive Technology and Product Development at Mahindra, has been promoted to lead the integrated Automotive Business. This business will now combine both SUV and Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segments under one leadership. He will take charge as President of the Auto Division from January 2026.

Velusamy joined Mahindra in 1996 and has been a key player in developing powertrains and launching several new vehicle models, both in ICE and EV categories. His new role brings full responsibility for profit and growth in the entire auto division. Moreover, this integrated structure is expected to bring more agility, faster decision-making, and better coordination between product development and market strategies.

Hemant Sikka to Lead Mahindra Logistics

Hemant Sikka, who is currently the President of Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES), has been appointed as the Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Logistics Ltd (MLL). This appointment was approved by the MLL Board and will be effective from 5th May 2025. He takes over the position from Ram Swaminathan, who is stepping down to explore new career opportunities.

According to the company, Hemant is a strong leader with great strategic thinking, operational strength, and a deep focus on customer needs. His people-first approach has always delivered positive results. The company believes that Mahindra Logistics has a lot of potential to grow further, and under Hemant’s leadership, it is confident that this goal can be achieved.

Apart from that, Veejay Nakra, who currently leads the Automotive Division, will move to head the Farm Equipment Business (FEB). This division is one of Mahindra’s most successful businesses, with a high return on capital employed (ROCE) of over 60%. Nakra will also start his new role from 5th May 2025 and will continue to report to Rajesh Jejurikar.

Nakra has been with Mahindra since 1995 and is known for successfully transforming the auto division and introducing popular products. Now, he will focus on growing the farm equipment business, which includes tractors, advanced farm machinery, and international expansion. The company sees strong potential in this sector and believes Nakra is the right leader to unlock further opportunities.

Group CEO Praises Internal Talent

Dr Anish Shah, the Group CEO and MD of Mahindra & Mahindra, praised the company’s deep talent pool and said that “the new roles show the group’s focus on sustained growth”. He thanked Ram Swaminathan for his valuable contributions and wished Hemant, Velusamy, and Veejay great success in their new responsibilities.

These leadership changes are a step forward for the Mahindra Group as it continues to focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, and long-term success across its core businesses.
