Mahindra Zor Grand DV Becomes Key Support for Drone-Based Farming Services
In a major step towards modern farming, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility has deployed over 1,261 units of its electric three-wheeler, Mahindra Zor Grand DV, under the NAMO Drone Didi project. This central government scheme supports women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by offering drone-based farming services to Indian farmers.
The Mahindra Zor Grand DV is an electric cargo vehicle with a real-world range of 90 km per charge. It has been specially modified to carry drone equipment and farming tools. These include gensets, extra batteries, water cans, spray bottles, and even diesel cans when needed. As a result, it makes farm service operations more efficient and easier to manage in rural areas.
Helping Farmers with New Technology and Sustainable Transport
In addition, the vehicle plays a big role in supporting precision farming. Drones carried by these vehicles help in spraying fertilisers and pesticides more accurately, which reduces waste, saves money, and protects the environment. According to Mahindra, this method also improves crop health and saves effort for farmers.
Creating Opportunities for Women and Rural India
The project is being carried out in partnership with IFFCO (Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited) and farmer groups across the country. The aim is to provide drones to 15,000 women SHGs between 2024 and 2026, which will help these groups earn at least ₹1 lakh a year through rental services to farmers.
Overall, this effort by Mahindra not only promotes clean transport through EVs but also supports rural women, encourages smart farming, and adds to India’s mission of sustainability.
