New Partnership Brings Smart Charging and Performance Tech to Indian Electric Autos
Omega Seiki Private Limited (OSPL) & Ergon Labs have signed a ₹50 crore partnership to bring new technology to electric three-wheelers in India. This deal will help improve the performance of EVs and make charging them faster.
A Big Step for Indian EV Market
This partnership focuses on using Ergon Labs’ special Integrated Power Converter (IPC) in electric three-wheelers. It will first be used in the L5 Passenger segment, which includes electric autos that carry people. OSPL will be the first company in India to use this technology in its vehicles.
The IPC combines two important parts—the on-board charger and motor controller—into a single unit. According to the companies, this new setup brings 30% better hill climbing ability, 50% faster charging, and also cuts system costs by 30%.
In addition, 2,000 units of this new technology will be launched across India in the 2026 fiscal year. This move comes at a time when companies like Ola, Uber, and Rapido are increasing their use of electric three-wheelers in big cities and towns.
A Strong Collaboration
The deal also includes a strategic investment by OSPL’s Founder and Chairman, Uday Narang, who will now be part of Ergon Labs' advisory board. This shows the deep trust and long-term vision both companies share.
Ashwin Ramanujam, CEO of Ergon Labs, stated that “this partnership represents a significant step forward. He added that Ergon Labs has already tested the new system for over 50,000 kilometers on roads and will complete final approvals in about a month.”
More Electric Vehicles on the Way
Along with this, both companies are also working on an L5 Cargo EV that can carry over 500 kg. This vehicle will aim to replace diesel autos that are still commonly used for carrying goods.
A Growing EV Market in India
India's electric three-wheeler market is growing quickly. This is because the Government of India is supporting EV adoption to lower pollution and reduce the country’s fuel imports. Commercial vehicles like passenger and cargo autos are leading this change due to their low running costs.
Ergon Labs is a startup that focuses on making better powertrain tech for small electric vehicles. Meanwhile, Omega Seiki is part of the Anglian Omega Group and has been expanding in both electric passenger and cargo three-wheeler markets.
