OSM has set up a manufacturing unit for the commercial vehicle near Dhaka in Bangladesh, which will start operation in April 2023
One of the leading Electric Commercial Vehicle Manufacturers, Omega Seiki Mobility, has signed an MoU with the Brandwin group. The agreement states that both companies will manufacture and distribute electric vehicles in Bangladesh. The range of vehicles includes 1-ton and 3-ton models of M1KA in the Country as early as 2024. The company's production line is currently under construction. Also, in the initial stage the company will sell CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits of the M1KA model in Bangladesh. The OSM and Brandwin will invest Rs. 82 Crore ($10 Million). The manufacturing company is expecting an initial volume of sales which is 500 trucks per year.

Founder & Chairman of Omega Seiki Mobility, Mr Uday Narang, said, “Omega Seiki Mobility, amplifying its Electric vehicle business in the Bangladesh market is the next logical step in our internationalisation strategy. Our High Tech Electric Trucks offer exactly the current needs of the Country, and we will be able to play to our strengths in this highly dynamic market. In addition, the geographical proximity to India provides great synergy effects; as early as 2024, we will be exporting vehicle kits from our Indian plant in Faridabad to Bangladesh, marking a major advancement of our EV Manufacturing 2.0 project.”
Need for Zero-Emission Transportation System in Bangladesh
The OSM has set up a manufacturing unit in Bangladesh near Dhaka, starting its operations in April 2023. They manufacture electric three-wheelers for the domestic and export market. Currently, the brand has 4 manufacturing facilities in India located at Faridabad and Pune. According to OSM, the geographical location of Bangladesh lies in a dangerous zone with a temperature rise. And the Country is also experiencing climate change, and the government is concerned about this climate issue. Also, it is coupled with the brand's expanding economy, which seems to create a demand for efficient and safe transportation.
The main motive of this association is to enable EV manufacturers to meet the evolving needs of this customer base which is rapidly striving for a sustainable and pollution-free last-mile transportation solution in the Country. In addition, Omega Seiki Mobility will offer a range of electric 4-wheeler M1KA trucks to Brandwin
