Rajasthan Plans 9 Greenfield Expressways – ₹60,000 Cr Push for Better Truck & Trade Connectivity

Rajasthan is stepping into a new era of road infrastructure. Rajasthan is set to experience smoother, faster, and more efficient transport with the rollout of 9 Greenfield expressways. These projects aim not just to cut travel time, but to transform the movement of goods, passengers, and commercial trucks across the region. The focus is clear: better connectivity for cities, villages, and industrial zones alike.

Expressways That Will Reshape Rajasthan's Transport Network

In a strong push for infrastructure growth, the state government has included 9 Greenfield expressways in its latest budget announcements. These new roads are set to enhance long distance connectivity that eases freight movement and supports the rising demand for truck-based logistics.

Infrastructure Highlights:

  • Total length: 2,750 kilometers
    Estimated cost: ₹60,000 crore
  • Development model: BOT (Build, Operate, Transfer) & PPP (Public-Private Partnership)
  • Current status: DPR (Detailed Project Report) in progress
  • Timeline: Execution to begin post DPR, land acquisition, and tenders

These expressways will offer dedicated corridors that ensure smoother routes for heavy commercial vehicles, especially truck carrying goods across districts and states.

Detailed List of Planned Expressways

Here’s a snapshot of the proposed expressway network, aimed at connecting key urban and industrial zones:

One of the standout routes—Jaipur to Pachpadra—will intersect with national expressways like Delhi-Mumbai and Amritsar-Jamnagar, giving transport trucks seamless access to national trade corridors.

Ring Roads: Reducing Inner-City Traffic and Delays

To reduce traffic congestion in growing cities, the government has proposed ring roads in 15 cities. These outer roads will divert commercial vehicle traffic, especially heavy trucks, away from city centers.

Cities to Get Ring Roads:

  • Balotra
  • Jaisalmer
  • Jalore
  • Sikar
  • Banswara
  • And 10 more urban areas

A budget of ₹50 crore has been allocated for preparing feasibility and planning reports.

Rural Road Expansion: Strong Base for Local Transport

Road connectivity isn’t just for cities. The plan also targets villages, remote zones, and desert regions, making goods movement and rural logistics easier for small businesses and farmers.

Key Infrastructure Plans:

  • 21,000 km of new roads to be developed at ₹6,000 crore
  • 1,600 hamlets to be connected under PM Gram Sadak Yojana
  • Atal Pragati Path to build cemented roads in 5,000+ villages
  • ₹500 crore for 250 villages in Phase 1
  • ₹10 crore per assembly area for road upgrades
  • Desert regions to get ₹15 crore per assembly zone

These roads will help light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and rural cargo trucks reach every corner of Rajasthan, supporting trade, supply chains, and emergency services.

What’s the Timeline?

Although the plans are ambitious, infrastructure development follows a phased timeline:

  1. Land acquisition: 9–12 months
  2. Tendering process: 3–6 months
  3. Construction phase: 1.5–2.5 years (barring major delays)

Once these phases are executed smoothly, commercial transportation using trucks and LCVs will see significant time savings and reduced operational costs.

A Game-Changer for Infrastructure and Transport

If implemented on schedule, these projects will be a major win for Rajasthan’s infrastructure. The new expressways and rural roads will boost logistics efficiency, improve commercial vehicle movement, and open new trade routes within and beyond the state. For transporters, fleet owners, and everyday commuters, Rajasthan’s future roads promise better speed, safety, and connectivity.
