Tata Elxsi and Infineon Join Hands to Develop EV Systems for India

New EV Partnership to Focus on 3-Wheelers and Commercial Vehicles

Tata Elxsi and Infineon Technologies have joined hands to develop electric vehicle (EV) systems that are ready for the Indian market. This partnership will mainly focus on building EV solutions for electric three-wheelers and commercial vehicles, along with two-wheelers and passenger cars.

Supporting India’s Growing EV Shift

Electric vehicle sales in India increased by around 25–30% in 2024. Among them, electric three-wheelers and commercial vehicles saw a major rise of nearly 28%. To support this fast growth, Tata Elxsi and Infineon will work together to offer systems that are reliable, cost-effective, and safe.

In this partnership, Tata Elxsi will take care of design, testing, and system integration. On the other hand, Infineon will provide advanced semiconductor parts such as silicon carbide (SiC) devices, microcontrollers, and chips. These will be used in making battery management systems, onboard chargers, and thermal management systems.

Focus on Safety and Efficiency

Both companies aim to build systems that follow global safety standards like ISO 26262. In particular, they will ensure ASIL-D compliance, which is important for safe vehicle operation. Moreover, the focus will be on making these EV systems simple to use and ready for quick launch.

Looking Ahead to a Greener Future

This move also supports the Government of India’s vision for a cleaner transport system. NITI Aayog wants 80% of electric three-wheelers and 70% of commercial vehicles on Indian roads by 2030.

In conclusion, this new partnership could bring better and faster EV technology for India’s roads, especially in the growing three-wheeler and commercial vehicle sectors.
