TATA.ev to Expand EV Charging Infrastructure in India

Aiming for 400,000 Charging Points Nationwide by 2027

TATA.ev, India’s leading electric vehicle (EV) brand, has announced a massive expansion of the country’s charging infrastructure. The company plans to increase the number of charging points from the current 200,000 to 400,000 by 2027. This move will make EVs more accessible and convenient for users across India.

Growing the EV Charging Network

Since 2019, TATA.ev has been actively working to improve EV charging facilities in India. The company has introduced home charging solutions and developed public charging stations in key locations where EV adoption is high. This has helped early users of EVs make a smooth transition from traditional fuel-powered vehicles.

To push the next phase of EV adoption, TATA.ev launched an ‘Open Collaboration’ framework in 2023. Under this initiative, the company partnered with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to expand charging facilities. This effort led to the rapid growth of public charging points, which have more than doubled in just 15 months, reaching over 18,000 chargers across the country.

Open Collaboration 2.0 – The Next Big Step

Now, TATA.ev is taking things further with ‘Open Collaboration 2.0.’ This plan aims to accelerate EV adoption by increasing charging infrastructure at a much faster pace. The company’s goal is to install more than 400,000 charging points in the next two years.

To achieve this, TATA.ev is working closely with leading CPOs to install 30,000 new public fast chargers. These stations will be accessible to all EV users, ensuring that charging is easy and reliable, no matter the brand of the vehicle. By expanding the network of home, community, and public chargers, the company hopes to promote emission-free mobility and create a cleaner, greener India.

Key Highlights of TATA.ev’s Charging Expansion

Charging anxiety is one of the biggest concerns for EV users. To address this, TATA.ev is launching a Dedicated Charging Helpline that will be available 24x7. This service will provide immediate assistance for any charging-related issues, ensuring that customers always have the support they need.

Unified Payments Wallet

To make payments easier, TATA.ev is introducing a Unified Payments Wallet, allowing users to pay for charging across different service providers without the need for multiple apps. This feature will bring added convenience and simplify transactions for all EV owners.

A Step Towards a Greener Future

Speaking at the launch of Open Collaboration 2.0, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, highlighted the importance of charging infrastructure in driving India’s EV revolution.

He said, “TATA.ev has not only introduced world-class electric vehicles but also built a strong charging network to support them. With ‘Open Collaboration 2.0,’ we aim to expand the charging infrastructure to over 400,000 points in two years.
