Tata Motors has achieved a new milestone in innovation by filing a record number of patents and design applications in the financial year 2024–25. The company submitted 250 patent applications and 148 design filings — its highest annual total to date. These filings underscore the company’s strong focus on research and development, aligned with the industry's ongoing shift towards connectivity, electrification, sustainability, and safety (CESS).

Apart from patents and design applications, the company filed 81 copyright applications and was granted 68 patents during FY25. With this, the cumulative number of patents granted to Tata Motors has reached 918.
