Tata Motors has always focused on building practical and value-for-money vehicles. The Winger Tourist/Staff is a good example of that. The Winger's front profile features a bold chrome-plated ‘Trust Bar’ with the Tata logo, adding a premium touch. The DRLs and turn indicators are now integrated into a sleek, wraparound design. This design features full LED technology, which not only looks stylish but also enhances visibility. The new matte black split grille improves air circulation and engine cooling. 

One thing that is mostly liked is how balanced the van looks. It’s not too boxy, and the large 15-inch tyres give it a confident road presence. The ground clearance of 180 mm also ensures it can handle all kinds of roads, even bumpy ones. 

Tata has smartly designed the cabin to balance comfort and durability. With 12+D or 13+D seat configurations, passengers enjoy ample legroom. The push-back seats are decently cushioned and well-spaced, which is important for long-distance travel.

There are individual AC vents for every passenger, a feature not often found in this segment. That alone can make journeys much more bearable, especially during summer. You also get multiple USB charging points, which is a great touch, considering how everyone today carries devices that need charging.

The driver’s seat is three-way adjustable, so finding a comfortable driving position isn’t a problem. And even though it's a people mover, the Winger doesn’t feel like a commercial van – the interior feels more premium than expected. With an internal roof height of 1900 mm, even taller passengers can sit comfortably without feeling cramped.

Also, there’s enough luggage space – 585 litres – to handle office bags, tourist backpacks, or airport transfers with ease.

The Winger is powered by a 2.2L BS6 Phase 2 compliant DICOR engine. This engine produces 99 HP and 200 Nm of torque, which is solid for a van in this category. What’s most impressive is how smooth the power delivery is. The engine feels refined, and thanks to the wide torque range (1250–3500 rpm), you don’t need to change gears too often. This really helps in city traffic as well as on highways.

Tata has also added a Torque-Based Gear Shift Advisor. It gives helpful hints to shift gears at the right time, which is useful for new or less experienced drivers. And there’s an Eco Mode that helps save fuel on longer runs. With a tested mileage of around 21.84 km/l, it's easily one of the most fuel-efficient vans in its class.

The suspension setup is also worth mentioning. The front has McPherson struts with coil springs, and the rear uses parabolic leaf springs with hydraulic shock absorbers. This setup absorbs road bumps well, keeping the ride stable and comfortable.

Tata has clearly prioritised safety in the Winger. There are side impact beams to protect passengers in case of an accident. The engine is supported by a rugged sub-frame, adding to the structural strength.

The front disc brakes with twin pot callipers give confident braking power, and the rear gets drum brakes that are well-tuned for load handling. There’s also an anti-roll bar at both front and rear to keep the vehicle steady during sharp turns or high-speed runs.

Additionally, warning lamps for open doors (for both driver and co-driver) are a small but important touch. It shows how Tata is paying attention to real-world needs.
