Strategic Growth in Commercial Electric Mobility
Zuperia Auto Private Limited, previously known as Lohia Auto Industries, has taken a significant step in the electric vehicle (EV) space by securing an order for 40 electric garbage collection vehicles. These vehicles will be deployed by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) for operations in the Bawana Industrial Area.
This marks a significant step in its strategy to scale operations in the electric 3-wheeler (e-3W) that focuses on sustainable urban solutions for last-mile logistics.
Dual Brand Strategy for Diverse Markets
Following a recent restructuring, Zuperia Auto now operates under two distinct brands to cater to different customer segments:
- Youdha – Focused on institutional and mass-market buyers
- Lohia – Positioned for premium clientele seeking high-end electric mobility solutions
The company is also ramping up production at its Kashipur plant and preparing to launch new electric loaders, 3W cargo vehicles, and urban-duty EV trucks under the Youdha badge.
CEO’s Vision: EV Opportunities Beyond Personal Mobility
Ayush Lohia, CEO of Zuperia Auto, emphasized the growing importance of the commercial EV sector, “The real opportunity in the EV space lies beyond personal mobility. With increasing restrictions on diesel vehicles in cities and rising pressure on municipalities to switch to clean mobility, segments like cargo and garbage collection are becoming key focus areas.”
Market Momentum in Electric Cargo Vehicles
India’s electric three-wheeler market recorded a strong performance in 2024 with 694,466 units sold, reflecting an 18% year-over-year growth. Notably, the cargo sub-segment grew by 45%, largely driven by e-commerce expansion and last-mile delivery needs.
Zuperia Auto has already supplied electric garbage collection vehicles across regions such as Delhi-NCR, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, strengthening its credibility and operational reach.
Growing Market Potential and Policy Support
Industry experts estimate that the cargo and utility EV segment currently has a market size of around 93,000 units, with expectations to surpass 150,000 units in the next 4–5 years. This growth is supported by:
- Government EV adoption policies
- Operational savings over fossil-fuel alternatives
- Increased focus on zero-emission public service vehicles
Zuperia’s Competitive Edge in EV Manufacturing
Zuperia Auto attributes its strategic edge to:
- Strong in-house R&D capabilities
- A dedicated EV manufacturing facility
- Ability to offer tailor-made solutions for specific institutional requirements
This flexible and tech-driven approach allows the company to quickly adapt to the evolving needs of municipalities and large commercial clients.
Future Outlook: Driving Clean Mobility for Institutions
With a clear focus on the commercial utility segment, Zuperia Auto is well-positioned to become a major player in India’s EV transition. The company’s dual-brand strategy, production expansion, and commitment to sustainability align closely with national goals for cleaner urban transportation.
As cities increasingly turn to electric alternatives for logistics and public services, Zuperia’s forward-looking strategy and innovation-driven product lineup may play a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of India’s electric mobility landscape.
