The Electric Arm of the company, SWITCH Mobility, unveiled the IeV series of electric light commercial vehicles.
Ashok Leyland, the flagship firm of the Hinduja Group and one of the biggest CV manufacturers, is celebrating their 75th anniversary. On this occasion, the electric arm of the brand, SWITCH Mobility, has launched the new IeV series of commercial electric vehicles. Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Mr Nitin Gadkari, released the latest electric vehicles in this celebration.
The Chairman of Ashok Leyland and SWITCH Mobility, Mr Dheeraj Hinduja, said, "Ashok Leyland's 75-year journey is a story of transformation and innovation. As we celebrate this milestone, we look ahead to the future with excitement and determination and renew our pledge to further shape the future of the CV Industry. We have set our sights on pioneering sustainable transportation solutions and aim to support India's economic development for years to come".
Moreover, the company has signed an MoU with multiple E-commerce companies to provide 1300 vehicles in the next 3 years. These companies also include the industry players like Amazon and Flipkart. The brand has launched two models, which are the Switch Mobility IeV3 and Switch Mobility IeV4.
The SWITCH IeV series features a range of 300 kilometres (opportunity charging) and a payload of up to 1.7 tons. It is fitted with the SWITCH iON system, offering various features, including real-time vehicle positioning, route, trip history and EV aggregates condition. In addition, these vehicles will come with three charging options and have sports car-like features.
All of these features ensure efficient operations and better driving performance. The electric vehicles are powered by a 330 V High Voltage EV Architecture. The IeV series sets a new 2 - 3.5T CV category benchmark. In addition, it is engineered with a spacious cargo body extending up to 9.7 feet, which accommodates 340 cubic feet of the container.
