Commercial Vehicle Sales of Tata, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra - Oct 2021

Oct 2021, 26% of the growth was recorded in commercial vehicle retail sales in LCV, HCV and MCV segments.

According to the FADA (Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations) report for October 2021, growth was recorded. This time 3 wheeler sales increased by 74%, passenger vehicle retail sales by 6%, commercial vehicle sales by 26% and tractor sales decreased by 11%. 

Vehicle sales were affected due to shortage of stores and supply chain disruptions. With this, the fuel value also increased, higher inputs costs, general economic deceleration and the COVID- 19 second wave. 

Considering commercial vehicle retail sales, each CV manufacturer has recorded YoY development except for Mahindra. As a result, total CV sales remained at 56,732 units, up from 44,865 units sold in October 2020. The effect could be seen across the LCV, MCV and HCV portions, more in HCV sections that registered sales at 15,874 units last month, and recorded 121.61 % growth this month as the Oct 2021 sales were 7,163 units more.

Mahindra and Tata Motors were the leading two CV creators in this section and represented retail over the 10,000 unit mark. However, Tata Motors led the run-up with 24,870 units in October 2021, up from 15,380 units sold in October 2020. And, its market share expanded considerably from 34.28 % to 43.84 % YoY.

Recently, Tata Motors has disclosed 21 new commercial vehicles across all sections. These items include seven for the M&HCV portion, five in the I&LCV segment, four in small commercial vehicles and pick-ups and five in the passenger vehicles segment. 

Mahindra is at no. 2 position with de-development in retail sales. Sales in the previous month remained at 10,302 units, down from 15,108 units sold in October 2020. Market share additionally plunged from 33.67 % to 18.16 % YoY. 

Hinduja Group leads Ashok Leylands retail sales expanded from 5,294 units sold in October 2020 to 7,822 units in the previous month. Market share additionally increased from 11.80 % to 13.79 %. It is simply noted that Ashok Leyland is producing hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles. At the same time, the organization additionally has plans to carry out CNG-fitted commercial vehicles by the final quarter of this fiscal year.

VECV, Daimler And Maruti

VE Commercial vehicle retail sales expanded to 4,045 units in the previous month, up from 2,192 units sold in October 2020. 

Maruti CV retail sales recorded at 3,778 units, up from 2,338 units retailed around the same time last year, while Daimler (BharatBenz) saw its retail sales at 1,166 units in October 2021, over only 851 units retailed in October 2020. Power Motors retail likewise expanded to 998 units, up from 439 units retailed in October 2020, with the overall industry rising from 0.98 % to 1.76 % YoY.

SML Isuzu likewise announced an expansion in retail sales to 623 units in October 2021, up from 352 units retailed around the same time of the earlier year, while a portion of the overall industry expanded to 1.10 % over 0.78 % held in October 2020. Other commercial vehicle manufacturer likewise added 3,128 units to add up to CV retails in October 2021. This was an expansion of more than 2,911 units sold in October 2020.
