In January 2024, the three-wheeler category witnessed a notable 14.96% sales surge, and a total of 97,675 units sold.
The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) disclosed sales data for commercial vehicles (CVs) and three-wheelers for this period. Combined CV sales in January 2024 reached 276,091 units, indicating a growth of 10.64% from the 249,537 units sold in January 2023.
While the CV segment experienced a marginal 0.11% increase, with 89,208 units sold in January 2024 compared to 89,106 units the previous year, the three-wheeler segment notably boosted sales. It achieved sales of 97,675 units in January 2024, up from 71,325 units in January 2023, reflecting a remarkable 14.96% growth rate.
Under the E Rickshaw segment, a sales growth of 35.29% in retail was observed in Jan 2024. The brand sold 40,526 units in January 2024, compared to 29,955 in January 2023.
This segment saw an 87.89% hike in its retail sales for January 2024. The E-Rickshaw category sold 3,739 units in Jan 2024, compared to 1,990 in January 2023.
The 3 wheeler segment observed a slight growth of 29.14% in its Jan 2024 sales figure. It sold 10,163 units in January 2024, compared to 7,870 in January 2023.
This passenger vehicle segment registered a major retail sales growth of 37.30% in Jan 2024. The segment sold 43,188 units in January 2024, compared to 31,455 in January 2023.
The personal three-wheeler saw a 7.27% sales rise in its retail sales in Jan 2024. The segment sold 55 units in Jan 2023, which increased to 59 in Jan 2024.
The commercial vehicle segment has also been segregated according to LCV, MCV, HCV, and others. Following are the complete sales of the CV segment.
The LCV segment experienced a slight decline of 5.78% in its retail sales for Jan 2024. In Jan 2024, the segment closed with 49,835 units, compared to 52,892 units in Jan 2023.
The MCV category of commercial vehicles sold 5,454 units in Jan 2024, compared to 4,874 units in Jan 2023. As a result, the MCV segment experienced growth of 11.90%.
Under the Heavy Commercial Vehicle segment, there was a slight sales growth of 2.46% in retail sales in Jan 2024. In this period, it sold 29,179 units in Jan 2024, compared to 28,479 in Jan 2023.
All other remaining segments of the CV category ended in Jan 2024, with sales of 4,740 units. In Jan 2023, it sold 2,861 units. As a result, the segment saw sales growth of 65.68%.
