FADA Commercial Vehicle Sales Up By 3.22% in August 2023

Daimler India recorded the highest growth of 48.31%, whereas the Y-O-Y sales of Tata Motors went down by 5.57% in India.

The Federation Of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) has shared the sales numbers of the popular commercial vehicle companies. This sale represents the data of August 2023 through the dealers in different states.

In August 2023, the commercial vehicles segment registered a growth of 3.22%. The data shows that the OEMs sold 75,294 units in August 2023 against the 72,940 units in August 2022. 

Official Statement of FADA:-

The President of FADA, Mr. Manish Singh Singhania, said, “The CV sector revealed a multi-faceted scenario: despite headwinds such as sluggish cargo movement, verticals like cement, iron ore, and coal exhibited robust demand. As the festive season approaches, indicators suggest a market recovery, reinforced by priority supply scheduling and a resurgence in travel-related sales. Aggressive promotional initiatives and enhanced customer sentiment further support this optimistic outlook.”

Here are the complete truck sales statistics for 2023 for August for all popular CV brands in India.

FADA Commercial Vehicle Sales Up By 3.22% in August 2023

Tata Motors: -

Tata Motors, one of India’s biggest CV and Automobile manufacturers, also has a significant presence in the global market. The brand witnessed a drop in sales as it sold 27,483 units against 29,107 units in August 2022. As a result, the sales dropped by 5.57%. 

Mahindra & Mahindra: -

Mahindra & Mahindra closed the month with a 9.65% hike in sales. The OEM sold 19,168 CV units, which was 17,482 in August 2022.

Ashok Leyland: - 

Ashok Leyland recorded minimal growth in the Y-O-Y sales of August 2023. According to the FADA sales report, the brand sold 11,297 CV units, whereas the numbers were 11,292 in August 2022. The OEM ended the month with 0.04% growth in sales. 

VECV: -

VECV is a joint venture formed by Volvo Trucks India and Eicher Trucks. The venture has also raised its sales with a good margin in August 2023. In August 2022, they sold 4,603 units of CV, which increased to 5,483 units in August 2023. As a result, the brand has a sales growth of 19.11%. 

Maruti Suzuki:-

The passenger vehicle giant has proved their mettle in the commercial vehicle market. Maruti Suzuki company also registered a hike of 16.4% in August. They sold 3,250 units of CV this month against the 2,792 units sold in August 2022.

Daimler:-

Daimler India, which works as BharatBenz Trucks, is on a golden run, generating the highest growth in Y-O-Y sales. The brand sold 1,006 units of CV in August 2022, which rose to 1,492 units in August 2023 with 48.31%. 

Force Motors Limited:- 

Force Limited completed the month with 1,481 units in August 2023, with a surge of 14.1% in their sales. In comparison, Force sold 1,298 units in August 2022. 

SML Isuzu:- 

Last but not least, SML Isuzu closed the month positively with a sales hike of 3.82% in August Y-O-Y sales. The brand registered sales of 895 CV units, which was 862 units in August 2022. 

Moreover, all the other brands contributed 4,745 CV units in August this year and 4,498 units in August 2022. It resulted in a sales hike of 5.5%.
