FADA Reports 1.82% Drop in Nov 2023 CV Sales; Sold 84,586 Units

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association has revealed the commercial vehicle sales data for November 2023. Among the Indian manufacturers, Force Motors Limited, a Firodia Enterprise, has marked a notable 59.51% year-on-year increase in sales for November. 

The FADA (Federation of Automobile Dealers Association) has published the November 2023 truck sales report, comparing figures between November 2022 and November 2023 for popular Indian CV manufacturers.

The data shows that truck sales in November 2023 reached 84,586 units. On the other hand, 86,150 units were sold in November 2022, resulting in a 1.82% decline.

Official Statement of FADA:-

FADA President, Mr. Manish Raj Singhania, said, “November’23 has become a historic month for the Indian Auto Retail Industry as during the month, 28.54 lakh vehicles were sold, thus overtaking the previous highs of March’20 when the industry sold 25.69 lakh vehicles during the BS-4 to BS-6 transition. Apart from this, 2W and PV also created new records. The 2W category sold 22.47 lakh vehicles, an increase of 1.77 lakh vehicles compared to the previous high of March’20. The PV category also sold 3.6 lakh vehicles, ~4K vehicles more when compared to previous highs of October’22.”

Brand-Wise Commercial Vehicles Sales Data

Here, we have segregated the section according to the brands-wise sales. 

Tata Motors

Tata Motors, is India's biggest commercial vehicle manufacturer. The brand sales faced a 7.88% sales loss. They sold 29,700 CVs in November 2023, against 32,240 units in Nov 2022.  

Mahindra & Mahindra

Mahindra Trucks sold 23,429 units of commercial vehicles in November 2023. In comparison, the brand closed the same month last year with 21,616 units. As a result, the brand grew 8.39% in November YO-Y sales.

Ashok Leyland

Ashok Leyland ended the month with a sales decline of 8.74% in November 2023. The brand sold 14,186 CVs in November last year, which decreased to 12,946 units this year.

VECV

VECV is a joint venture between Volvo Trucks India and Eicher Trucks. They sold 5,560 CV units in November 2023, which closed at 5,667 units in November 2022, resulting in a sales drop of 1.89%.

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki experienced an 8.72% loss in November. They sold 3,714 units in November 2023, while it closed with 4,069 in Nov 2022.

Daimler

Daimler India, or BharatBenz Trucks, gained a significant growth percentage in November 2023. The brand sold 1,815 Commercial Vehicles in Nov 2023, which was 1,584 units in Nov 2022. As a result, it registered a growth of 14.58%.

Force Motors Limited

This is yet another popular commercial vehicle manufacturer in India. Force Motors closed the month of November 2023 with a 59.51% maximum growth in sales. It sold 1,174 units this November, compared to 736 last year.

SML Isuzu

The SML Isuzu recorded a decrease of 4.55% in November 2023. The brand sold 567 units of CVs in November 2023, outnumbering the 594 units in Nov last year. 

Moreover, all the other brands contributed 5,681 CV units in November this year, compared to 5,458 units in Nov 2022. This resulted in a sales hike of 4.09%.
