Mahindra Veero Pickup : Inspired by the Bolero SUV Design?

Mahindra is set to launch its latest commercial vehicle, the Veero pickup truck. The official launch of the Mahindra Veero is expected on September 16, 2024. Some units have already been seen with changes like roof carriers and taller steel bodies, probably added by local welders. This suggests that some early buyers may have already taken a Veero pickup’s upgrade with Bolero’s powerful engine. Further, this marks an important move for the Mahindra commercial vehicles.

Mahindra Veero Pickup Truck : A New Competitor

The Mahindra Veero pickup truck will compete with renowned commercial vehicles such as the Tata Intra and Ashok Leyland Dost. The Veero is expected to bring new design elements and variants, making it stand out from Mahindra’s existing small commercial vehicles like the Mahindra Jeeto and Supro. This truck is designed to fit in Mahindra’s small commercial vehicle lineup which also includes the Mahindra Bolero Pik-Up and Maxx.

Mahindra’s 1st CV with a Passenger Vehicle Engine

One of the most exciting aspects of the Mahindra Veero is its high-performing engine. For the first time in a long while, Mahindra is using a passenger vehicle (PV) engine in a commercial vehicle (CV). The 1493cc diesel engine used in the Veero is likely the same engine that powers the Bolero and Bolero Neo SUVs. This engine delivers 59.68 kW of power at 3200 RPM, which translates to around 75 bhp. It makes the Mahindra Veero Pickup reliable and power needed for heavy-duty tasks.

The Mahindra Veero pickup will feature a dual-tone front fascia, a fully digital instrument cluster with a DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) level indicator, and seating for three people. The gear selector is positioned on the dashboard, creating more space for the occupants.

Forward Control Design for Better Maneuverability

The Mahindra Veero adopts a forward control design, similar to the Mahindra Supro and Jeeto models. This design gives it an edge in terms of city driving, as it offers better maneuverability and a smaller turning radius. It makes the Veero pickup a good option for urban businesses needing a truck that can easily navigate through narrow streets.

According to the homologation legal documents, Mahindra Veero will come in multiple variants with payload capacities ranging from 1.5 to 1.6 tonnes. There will also be variations in load bed sizes, indicated by XL and XXL options, as well as different suspension setups, denoted by SD (standard duty) and HD (heavy duty).

The Mahindra Veero pickup truck brings together the best of Mahindra’s commercial and passenger vehicle technology, promising a powerful and all-purpose option for businesses in India.
