5th May 2022 is a remarkable day for Tata Motors as today the company has launched its first EV, the Tata ACE EV. And exactly 17 years ago, the company launched its iconic Tata ACE.
Today, Tata Motors has added its first EV in the renowned Tata ACE range. And with the launch, the company has booked 39000 orders for the Tata ACE EV. On the same day, the company signed an MoU with numerous e-commerce and logistics companies such as Flipkart, Amazon, bigbasket.com, City Link, DOT, LetsTransport, MoEVing and Yelo EV to supply electric Tata ACE. The company will start its deliveries in the next quarter and the price range will be announced accordingly.
According to Tata Motors, this all-new Tata ACE EV is India's most advanced, zero-emission small commercial vehicle. Also, it is the first product featuring Tata Motors' EVOGEN powertrain that provides a certified range of 154 KM. In addition, it is built with an advanced battery, cooling system and regenerative braking system to increase the driving range. Moreover, this electric vehicle allows regular and fast charging capabilities for high uptime.
Tata Motors states that the last-mile delivery industry is ready to grow to USD 6-7 billion in India by 2024. Also, the company had a "huge acceptance in the electric bus segment already."
The company added fleet owners would have to support the maximum uptime and run-time to ensure cost-effectiveness. The CV dealerships will have a separate setup for the ACE EV.
Mr N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons and Tata Motors, stated, "E-mobility is an idea whose time has come. At Tata Motors, we are moving forward with the speed and scale to lead this transformation - in commercial vehicles, passenger cars and Jaguar Land Rover. Today, I am delighted that with the launch of the Tata ACE EV, we are entering a new era of e-cargo mobility. Tata ACE is the most successful mini truck range ever in India. It has revolutionised transportation and made millions of successful entrepreneurs over the years. It will further build on this legacy by providing a technologically-advanced, smart and clean mobility solution. I am excited about the electrification of commercial vehicles."
Currently, the Tata ACE holds a 70% market share in India's small commercial vehicle segment.
