New Electric School Bus Offers Up to 180 km Range and Focuses on Student Safety
July 9, 2026 | Gandhinagar: EKA Mobility has expanded its electric commercial vehicle portfolio with the launch of the EKA 9M Electric School Bus at Prawaas 5.0, India's leading bus and passenger mobility exhibition. The company introduced the new electric bus to meet the growing demand for safe and sustainable school transportation. In addition, the launch strengthens EKA Mobility's presence in the electric passenger transport segment.
The newly launched EKA 9M Electric School Bus comes with a lightweight monocoque platform and a high-strength steel structure. As a result, it offers better safety, improved ride comfort, and higher operational efficiency. The bus can carry up to 43 passengers along with the driver and follows AIS 052 safety standards for school buses.
Bus Gets Advanced Safety Features and Fast Charging Support
Safety remains one of the biggest highlights of the new school bus. EKA Commercial Vehicles has equipped it with an Electronic Braking System (EBS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and air suspension. Therefore, students can enjoy a more stable, comfortable, and secure journey during daily travel.
The company offers the electric school bus with 100 kWh and 200 kWh LFP battery pack options. Depending on the battery pack, the bus can deliver a driving range of up to 180 km on a single charge. Moreover, it supports CCS2 fast charging, which allows the battery to charge fully in less than 1 hour and 45 minutes. This helps schools reduce downtime and keep the bus ready for regular operations.
