Montra Electric Crosses 1,000 CV Sales Milestone, Sells 810 Units in 2026

Montra Electric has crossed the 1,000-unit mark in electric commercial vehicle (e-CV) sales in India. According to Vahan data, the company recorded 1,126 customer deliveries between January 2025 and September 20, 2026. Of this total, 810 units came in the first nine months of 2026, which means the company generated about 72% of its total sales this year.

The sharp rise in sales points to growing interest in Montra’s electric commercial vehicles, especially its Eviator electric mini-truck. The company also sells the larger Rhino electric heavy commercial vehicle (HCV). However, the Eviator range has made up most of the company’s e-CV volumes so far.

Montra Electric entered India’s electric CV market in January 2025. Since then, its sales have continued to increase. Moreover, the company and its Tivolt EV brand secured the ninth position among the top 10 e-CV original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) during January-August 2026. During the same period, India recorded 23,540 e-CV sales, the highest level seen so far.

Montra Electric Records Strong Sales Growth in 2026

Montra Electric sold 316 e-CVs in 2025. In comparison, it has already sold 810 units in 2026 through September 20. July became the company’s strongest month, with 148 deliveries, while August followed with 126 units.

September has also started on a positive note. The company delivered 95 electric CVs during the first 20 days of the month. In addition, Montra’s e-CV market share increased to 3% during January-August 2026, compared with 1% in the same period last year.

Eviator Mini-Truck Forms Major Part of Sales

A large part of Montra Electric’s sales comes from its small electric CV range. The company sells the Eviator 350 and Eviator 350L+ through its Tivolt Electric Vehicles division.

The Eviator 350 uses a 32 kWh battery and focuses mainly on city deliveries and last-mile transport. It offers a claimed real-world range of up to 170 km and carries a maximum payload of 1,707 kg.

For operators who need more range, Montra offers the Eviator 350L+. This version gets a 50 kWh battery and has a certified range of up to 300 km. Therefore, it can suit longer routes and applications such as refrigerated transport and municipal services.

Furthermore, Montra continues to offer its 40 kWh Eviator version. This gives buyers three battery choices within the same vehicle platform. The Eviator can charge from 20% to 100% in one hour and 29 minutes with a 30 kW DC fast charger.

Rhino Electric HCV Targets Heavy-Duty Operations

Montra Electric also has a heavy-duty electric truck in its portfolio in the form of the 55-tonne Rhino HCV. Unlike the Eviator, the Rhino focuses on sectors that require heavy-load transportation.

The Rhino comes in two configurations. The Rhino 6x4 Tractor Trailer offers a claimed range of up to 169 km on one charge, while the Rhino 4x2 Tractor Trailer can travel up to 198 km.

However, instead of relying only on conventional charging, the Rhino supports battery swapping. According to the company, the battery can be swapped in around seven minutes. This can help reduce waiting time for fleets that need to keep their vehicles running for longer periods.

Montra also claims that the Rhino can deliver up to 70% lower costs and reduced total cost of ownership compared with diesel trucks. The electric HCV also gets telematics and fleet management features for commercial fleet operations.

Montra Rhino Gets 260-Unit Fleet Order

The Rhino has also started moving into commercial fleet operations. In July 2026, Montra Electric sent its first batch of 65 Rhino e-HCVs from its manufacturing plant in Manesar, Haryana.

This shipment formed the first part of a 260-unit fleet order. The vehicles are planned for use on major industrial freight routes in India. The target sectors include logistics, construction, mining, cement and port infrastructure.

In this way, Montra is building its presence across both ends of the electric CV market. The Eviator addresses urban and last-mile requirements, while the Rhino focuses on heavy-duty freight movement.

Electric CV Demand May Rise Further in 2026

The Indian electric CV market is expanding as fleet operators look at alternatives to conventional diesel vehicles. Rising fuel costs, operating expenses and the need to control fleet costs could support this shift. In addition, developments in charging and battery technology are making electric CVs more suitable for a wider range of commercial uses.

At the same time, market growth will depend on factors such as charging availability, vehicle costs, battery range and the daily distance covered by commercial vehicles.

Montra Electric expects its sales to reach around 1,100 units in CY2026, which would mark its highest annual sales level so far. Meanwhile, India’s e-CV market could record around 40,000-42,000 retail sales in 2026, indicating that electric commercial vehicles may continue to gain a larger role in the country’s transport sector.
