Tata Motors Set to Launch Larger Electric Ace for Enhanced Last-Mile Mobility

Tata Motors, India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, will introduce a larger and more powerful version of the electric Ace on Thursday. This new model aims to strengthen the company's position in the electric vehicle (EV) last-mile mobility market.

According to the sources, "the 1.0-tonne electric Ace will feature a bigger payload and a slightly increased driving range, directly competing with Switch Mobility's IeV 3, which is yet to be released.”

The launch of the Ace EV 1.0 will take place at Tata Motors' Pantnagar plant, just two years after the Mumbai-based company entered the electric mini truck market with the Ace EV, which offers a 0.6-tonne payload.

The new Ace EV 1.0 caters to the demand for a higher payload from users of the 0.6-tonne model. The pricing will be announced on Thursday, with several fleet buyers invited to the event.

“Earlier only institutional buyers were able to buy the Ace EV but now anyone can buy it as the new Ace EV 1.0 will be open to retail buyers as well,” said the source.

Tata Motors has extended the driving range to over 160 km per full charge, an improvement over the smaller Ace EV's 150 km. The vehicle will be available through Tata Motors' extensive dealership network of over 1,000 locations.

This extensive reach gives Tata Motors an advantage over Ashok Leyland's Switch Mobility, which plans to expand sales to 100 outlets by the end of the year. Furthermore, Switch Mobility has not yet opened sales to small retail customers looking to purchase one or two units.
