In March 2024, the three-wheeler category had a significant 17.13% increase in sales, with 1,05,222 units sold.
The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) has released sales data for commercial vehicles (CVs) and three wheelers for the current period. Total CV sales in March 2024 were 182,578 units, reporting a 35.67% decline from 283,805 units sold in March 2023.
The commercial vehicle (CV) category fell by 5.87%, selling 91,289 units in March 2024 compared to 96,984 in the previous year. The three-wheeler market had a remarkable rise in sales, with 1,05,222 units sold, up from 89,837 in March 2023. This indicates an impressive growth rate of 17.13%.
Under the E Rickshaw segment, retail sales growth of 0.12% was observed in March 2024. The brand sold 37,378 units in March 2024, compared to 37,333 in March 2023.
This segment saw a 58.28% increase in retail sales in March 2024. The E-Rickshaw category sold 5,087 units in March 2024, compared to 3,214 in March 2023.
The 3-wheeler segment's March 2024 sales figure significantly increased by 35.46%. It sold 14,433 units in March 2024, compared to 10,655 in March 2023.
This passenger vehicle segment registered a major retail sales growth of 25.07% in March 2024. The segment sold 48,223 units in March 2024, compared to 38,556 in March 2023.
The personal three-wheeler saw a 27.85% rise in retail sales in March 2024. The segment sold 79 units in March 2023, which increased to 101 in March 2024.
The commercial vehicle segment has also been segregated according to LCV, MCV, HCV, and others. The following are the complete CV sales figures.
The LCV segment experienced a 4.93% decrease in retail sales in March 2024. The segment closed with 49,332 units in March 2024, compared to 51,891 units in March 2023.
The MCV category of commercial vehicles sold 6,324 units in March 2024, compared to 6,292 units in March 2023. As a result, the MCV segment experienced growth of 0.51%.
Under the Heavy Commercial Vehicle segment, retail sales decreased slightly by 12.83% in March 2024. During this period, 30,394 units were sold, compared to 34,869 in March 2023.
All other remaining segments of the CV category ended in March 2024, with sales of 5,239 units. In March 2023, it sold 3,932 units, which resulted in sales growth of 33.24%.
