First Electric Pick-up Truck with Full Commercial Power Enters European Market
Isuzu has launched its first-ever electric pick-up truck, the D-Max EV, at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show (CV Show) held at NEC Birmingham, UK. This new model marks a big step for Isuzu and the pick-up segment in Europe, as it is the first electric pick-up in the market to offer full-time 4x4, over 1-tonne payload, and 3.5-tonne towing capacity—all with zero tailpipe emissions.
From Concept to Reality: D-Max EV Production Begins
Earlier this year, Isuzu gave a glimpse of this model by showcasing the D-Max EV concept at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 in New Delhi, India. Now, just a few months later, Isuzu has revealed the production-ready version, which is currently being built in Thailand. This move shows how serious the brand is about offering clean and capable commercial vehicles for global markets.
Strong Performance with Eco-Friendly Power
The Isuzu D-Max EV runs on a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery and comes with dual motors—one at the front and one at the rear. Together, they produce 140 kW of power and 325 Nm of torque. This setup allows the D-Max EV to offer strong acceleration, going from 0 to 100 km/h in just 10.1 seconds, with a top speed of 128 km/h.
In addition, it offers a driving range of 263 km (WLTP) on a full charge, making it suitable for daily use. Features like Eco Mode and multi-level regenerative braking help save battery and increase efficiency.
Ready for Tough Jobs and Off-Road Adventures
Just like its diesel sibling, the electric D-Max is built tough. It rides on a strong ladder-frame chassis and includes features like Rough Terrain Mode, full-time 4x4, and water wading capacity up to 600mm. With a ground clearance of 210mm and approach and departure angles of 30.5° and 24.2°, this EV is built to handle rough roads, muddy paths, and more.
Perhaps more importantly for commercial buyers, the truck can tow up to 3.5 tonnes and carry over 1 tonne, making it perfect for construction, agriculture, and utility work.
Comfort and Features for Modern Drivers
Isuzu has not just focused on power and strength. The D-Max EV also brings a more comfortable and quiet ride. It now features an all-new De-Dion rear suspension, which replaces the old leaf spring design. This change makes the ride smoother and improves handling. Moreover, Isuzu says the cabin noise and vibrations are reduced by up to 10% under full acceleration.
Inside, the D-Max EV offers the latest infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The touchscreen is high-resolution, making it easier for drivers to access information and stay connected on the go.
Safety and Technology on Board
The new D-Max EV also comes with an updated set of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS). These include features designed to make driving safer and easier, especially when carrying heavy loads or driving in difficult conditions.
Additionally, drivers can rely on Isuzu’s strong warranty, which covers 8 years or 160,000 km. This shows the company’s trust in the quality and durability of its new EV.
Premium Trims for Different Needs
The D-Max EV will be available in two premium variants—one in Extended Cab and the other in Double Cab format. These models match the features and comfort of Isuzu’s existing DL40 and V-Cross diesel trims, offering both performance and premium appeal.
A Greener Option for Work and Travel
The Isuzu D-Max EV offers a smart mix of power, comfort, and eco-friendliness. Whether for daily work, long drives, or off-road challenges, this EV is ready. Isuzu aims to support businesses and individuals seeking to reduce their carbon footprint without compromising performance.
With its launch, the European electric commercial vehicle segment has taken an important step forward. The D-Max EV shows that electric pick-ups can be tough, reliable, and ready for any challenge.
