Olectra Greentech Limited, India’s largest electric commercial vehicle maker, has brought 35 air-conditioned electric buses to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the buses on November 1, 2026, at the Divisional Sports Complex. Passenger services start on November 2, 2026.
The buses support the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation’s plan to upgrade the city’s public transport. Evey Trans will run them on various routes across the city. As a result, people will get better connectivity and a cleaner, more comfortable ride.
Mr. Mahesh Babu, Managing Director of Olectra Greentech Limited, spoke about the launch. He said: “India is making remarkable progress in its transition towards cleaner and more sustainable public transportation. The introduction of 35 Olectra electric buses in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is another important step in making clean, reliable and efficient mobility a reality for more people. With 4,500+ Olectra electric buses on the road across more than 55 cities, covering over 750 million green kilometres, we believe the true measure of progress is not just the number of buses deployed, but the positive impact they create on everyday mobility, passenger experience and the environment.
We thank the Government of Maharashtra and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation for their continued trust and support. Olectra remains committed to shaping the future of sustainable public transportation through innovation and reliable electric mobility solutions.”
The new buses are 9 metres long, and blade battery technology powers them. In addition, Olectra built them with monocoque construction. Each bus has front and rear air suspension, an Antilock Braking System (ABS), regenerative braking, and front and rear disc brakes. Together, these features give passengers a safe, stable and smooth ride.
Olectra also designed the buses with passenger comfort in mind. Both passenger doors have air curtains, and CCTV cameras keep watch inside the bus. Digital destination boards with a passenger announcement system tell commuters where the bus is going. Moreover, a vehicle location tracking system, USB charging ports and a digital instrument cluster add more convenience. Overall, commuters get a safe, comfortable and connected trip.
These buses produce zero tailpipe emissions, and they run more quietly than diesel buses. Therefore, they will help the city use less conventional fuel and improve its air quality. Residents of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar now have a cleaner option for daily travel.
The 35 new buses make Olectra stronger in Maharashtra. They also add to the company’s growing role in sustainable public transport across India. With a wide national presence and proven electric mobility solutions, Olectra continues to work toward cleaner cities.
