Three Wheeler Retail Sales Growth of 41.51% in December 2022

Bajaj Auto sold 22,065 units, while Omega Seiki obtained a marvellous growth of 474.50% in December 2022 sales

Recently, FADA (Federation of Automobiles Dealership Associations) released the Three wheeler sales figures 2022 for December month of 2022. The 3W segment observed sales of 63,655 units, with a sales growth of 41.51% in December 2022 as compared to the sales of 44,983 units in December 2021. 

Commenting on how the month of December 2022 performed, FADA President Mr. Manish Raj Singhania said, "The 3W segment, which was completely down during the COVID pandemic has recovered well and has narrowed its gap when compared to CY2019. Within this segment it’s the electric rickshaw sub-segment which is showing triple digit growth thus pushing the EV market share above 50% mark.”

Brand Wise 3-wheeler Sales Report Data of December 2022

Bajaj: Bajaj Auto has remained the top-performing brand in the 3-wheelers segment. As per the FADA Three Wheeler Sales figure for December 2022, the brand sold 22,065 units in December 2022, which was 14,349 units in December 2021. As a result, it experienced a sales growth of 53.77%. 

Piaggio: According to the FADA Three Wheeler Sales Data for the month of December 2022, the brand sold 5,013 units in December 2022, which was 4,119 units in December 2021. As a result, it observed a sales growth of 21.70%. 

Y.C. Electric: This brand saw a sales growth of 3.76% in its retail sales for December 2022, as it sold 2,376 units in December 2022 compared to 2,290 units in December 2021. 

Mahindra: This brand witnessed an upward trend of 52.26% in its retail sales for December 2022, as it sold 2,491 units in December 2022 compared to 1,636 units in December 2021. 

Mayuri: This brand showed a positive trend of 71.68% in its retail sales, as it sold 1,837 units in December 2022 compared to 1,070 units in December 2021. 

Atul Auto: This brand experienced a slight growth of 5.63% in its retail sales report, as it sold 1,558 units in December 2022 compared to 1,475 units in December 2021. 

Citylife: This brand showed a sales growth of 47.07% in the December retail sales data, as it sold 1,231 units in December 2022 compared to 837 units in December 2021. 

Saarthi: This brand witnessed a shrink of 14.39% in its December retail sales report, as it sold 920 units in December 2022 compared to 1074 units in December 2021.

TVS Motors: This brand obtained a 41.70% sales growth in its December retail sales figure 2022, as it sold 1,101 units in December 2022 compared to 777 units in December 2021.

Mini Metro: This brand highlighted the positive growth of 49.0% in the 3-wheelers retail sales data December 2022, as it sold 900 units in December 2022 compared to 604 units in December 2021.

Terra Motors: This brand witnessed a sales growth of 74.27% in the retail sales of 3-wheelers, as it sold 779 units in December 2022 compared to 447 units in December 2021.

J.S. Auto: This brand showed slight sales growth of 9.59% in the Three Wheeler Sales Report December 2022, as it sold 617 units in December 2022 compared to 563 units in December 2021.

Omega Seiki: This brand experienced a remarkable sales growth of 474.50% in its 3W retail sales, as it sold 586 units in December 2022 compared to 102 units in December 2021.

All other brands, including electric vehicle manufacturers, highlighted a surge of 41.82% as they sold 22,181 three wheeler sales in India in December 2022, as compared to 15,640 units in December 2021. The sector is expanding sustainably, creating new opportunities for market participants. As we have seen in previous years, the major CV or 2-wheeler manufacturers now have vehicles in the 3-Wheeler segment. At this rate, we will see new companies emerge and contribute to this segment.
