Tata T.19 ULTRA Truck

Tata Motors has always aimed to deliver trucks that balance power, efficiency, and driver comfort. The ULTRA T.19 is another example of that vision. Built with Tata’s trusted ULTRA platform, this truck is made for medium and long-distance transportation. Whether it’s e-commerce goods, FMCG, textiles, or white goods, this truck handles it all with ease.

But what makes the ULTRA T.19 more special is how smart and future-ready it is. With BS6 Phase 2 technology, improved fuel-saving features, and digital upgrades like Fuel Monitoring and Firmware Over the Air (FOTA), this truck brings modern-day solutions to the Indian transport industry.

From the outside, the Tata ULTRA T.19 looks strong and premium. The overall build is very solid. The front design is sharp, and the height gives it a good road presence. What stands out immediately is the large windscreen, which not only looks good but gives the driver better visibility on highways and city roads.

The body has been designed with aerodynamics in mind, which also helps reduce air resistance, resulting in slightly better fuel economy. The truck comes with multiple wheelbase options (4,920 mm to 6,800 mm), and depending on the variant, the body can range from 20 ft to 32 ft. So, you have good flexibility in choosing what’s right for your transport needs.

The tyres are strong and wide—295/90 R20—and look ready to take on any type of road. Plus, the cabin's tilt angle (45°) makes servicing easy, which mechanics and owners will really appreciate.

The Tata T.19 Ultra truck cabin has a sleeper option, so long-distance journeys are less tiring. The mechanically suspended driver's seat adds more comfort and absorbs road bumps well.

One of the best things is the driving position. It feels just right, and the tilt and telescopic steering makes it easier for drivers of all heights. Even the gear lever is placed conveniently.

In terms of controls, everything feels well within reach. The Cruise Control button, Gear Shift Advisor, and Fuel Monitoring System are easy to operate. Tata also considered safety and ease when they included the Hill Start Assist feature—it’s a real help during hilly or stop-start traffic situations.

The cabin isn’t too fancy, but it’s practical. There’s enough storage space for documents and essentials, and it feels spacious for D+2 seating.

Now let’s talk about the part that matters the most—the drive. The Tata ULTRA T.19 is powered by the 5L Turbotronn 2.0 engine that delivers 204 PS of power and 850 Nm of torque. That’s solid strength for a truck of this class. What’s more impressive is how early the torque kicks in—right from 1,000 rpm—which helps during heavy load pulls and uphill drives.

The 6-speed G750 gearbox is smooth, and the gear ratios feel well-spaced for city and highway movement. The Dual Mode FE Switch is another smart addition. It allows drivers to switch between Light and Heavy load modes, optimising fuel usage depending on the situation. This feature alone can reduce the total cost of ownership over time.

With a fuel tank capacity of up to 645 litres (on the 32 ft variant), the truck offers long-range capability without the need for frequent refueling. The new BS6 Phase 2 engine tuning keeps emissions low while keeping mileage in check.

Even with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 18,500 kg, the truck doesn’t feel sluggish. It climbs steep gradients (25.8%) confidently and handles full loads with control and stability.

Tata has always been cautious about safety, and the ULTRA T.19 follows the same path. The truck comes with features that improve both driver safety and vehicle reliability. The parking brake is spring actuated and works effectively on the rear wheels, ensuring the truck stays in place even on slopes.

The cabin structure feels durable, and with the wide visibility and well-placed mirrors, blind spots are reduced. The 410 mm brake drums offer good braking power, and the hydraulic clutch with pneumatic assist makes the drive less tiring for the driver.

The Hill Start Assist is an underrated feature that helps prevent rollback during uphill starts. This not only makes driving safer but also reduces the risk of accidents or load shifts.

The truck also comes with Firmware Over the Air (FOTA), which ensures that critical software updates can be done remotely. This allows the vehicle to be updated with safety and performance improvements without visiting the service centre.
